Hudson Valley Art and Writing Awards Winning Photos (Mine!)

For the third year in a row, I entered the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, which starts out on a regional level as the Hudson Valley Art and Writing Awards.
Awards are given in a variety of categories, 18 to be exact, and I entered 14 of my best photos, selected with the help of my art teacher.
On the regional level, I won a Gold Key for the 3rd year, the top prize, along with three silver keys, the second best prize. Here are my award winners

The Happiest Place on Earth

Now, my Gold Key Photo goes on to the national level for judging.

For the second year in a row, I think that my silver key photos are better than gold, but the art community thinks else wise.

Remember, the 12 Photos of 2012 Poll is still open, so if you have not yet voted, there is plenty of time. It is a heated race this year, and I am surprised that there are no standout winners. There are seven contenders out of the twelve that could pull ahead with just a few more votes.

Keep the votes coming!

Flashbacks from the Serenade…

Hello Everyone,
You may have noticed that I didn’t truly highlight the Serenade of the Seas while we were onboard. I focused more on the ports and sights of Europe, as this wasn’t a Transatlantic, which is more for the ship. This was all about the ports, spanning across Italy, Greece, Spain, France and Turkey!

Now, over the next week or so, I will highlight the ship, along with some odd shipboard happenings captured on either my iPad or Nikon D3000 Camera.

Look for the first of these “Flashbacks from the Serenade”, which will also act as the First Photo of the Week since the Mediterranean Trip, tomorrow morning!

From now on, the Photo of the Week will come out every Sunday by Noon.

I hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Busy Days to Come, But a Surprise this Weekend

This week has been a busy one, and there is much more to come. Starting Next Thursday, I have New York State High School Regents Exams for Algebra and Earth Science, a New York State Proficiency Exam for Spanish, and other Final Exams. I wont be able to blog much, as you have been able to tell over the past week or so, but this weekend, I will be able to share some great artwork…. Not necessarily by me, maybe someone who is great at drawing?

Check back this weekend to find out what this surprise is!

Enjoy the rest of the week!

It’s been a week, but I’m back online!

Where have I been? Well, last Friday, my iPad’s screen stopped working, and was unresponsive throughout the week.
Yesterday evening, I got a New iPad (with Retina Display) with the warrantee.
Now, I am back!
I could have updated the blog from our desktop computer, but if you remember from last week, I competed in the Olympics of the Visual Arts on Wednesday, and I also graduated from a county-wide leadership program which my school selected me for. It has been a busy week, but now I can rest!

Check back later this morning/possibly in the early afternoon for a special edition of the Photo of the Week, featuring my group’s second place project in this State-Wide Art competition.
I will also give my insight on the best 2 minutes in sports, The Kentucky Derby.

Have a Great Day and ¡Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Another Important Announcement!

I have changed my mind about sharing pictures on my family’s trip to Florida. Actually, I am changing my website completely. I will no longer share my own photos. I am asking for you, my loyal readers, to send me your pictures, as I no longer enjoy taking pictures as I used to.

If you have any questions, leave a comment.
That’s all
