Sunny San Juan

These are some photos from my day in San Juan, Puerto Rico back in March that I rediscovered in the past few days. I forgot all about them, and was pleasantly surprised to see these.

I hope you enjoy the tropical photos!

Photo of the Week: Tribal Day Sail in St. Thomas, USVI

The Photo of the Week is back on Saturdays, so to start it off today, I have some simple shots from the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Trimaran sail we took there with Tribal Day Sails. It was an excellent day out on the water, and one of the highlights of our spring cruise to the Eastern Caribbean.

Don’t worry, the little boat in the first photo is the dinghy we used to get to the island in the background. The boat (a Trimaran) is like a catamaran, but with one main hull, and two smaller outrigger hulls. I unfortunately did not get a good photo of the trimaran.

I hope you enjoyed the photos just as much as I enjoyed being there (that’s a hard one to accomplish)

Posing in Cape May

What better day to make a comeback to my blog than the day our country got a fresh start, Independence Day.
Last week, nearing the end of my family’s week at the shore in New Jersey, we visited Cape May and the Washington Street Mall in particular. They had the basic shops, but my real point in mentioning it was the ‘experiment’ we held that afternoon. Much like what you would find on Posing With Friends, a website where people take pictures next to tourists taking pictures, but with slight modifications. I had my brother, Liam, and his friend, Jack, sit next to unknowing tourists and shoppers in the same position as them, and try not to let the innocent people in these photos find out what we were actually doing. It worked, and we never raised any eyebrows.

Here we go…

I am going to make it a goal to keep the blogging up, much like it was until last fall.

Enjoy the day of our Nation’s Birth, and you will hear from me again, very soon.

Hudson Valley Art and Writing Awards Winning Photos (Mine!)

For the third year in a row, I entered the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, which starts out on a regional level as the Hudson Valley Art and Writing Awards.
Awards are given in a variety of categories, 18 to be exact, and I entered 14 of my best photos, selected with the help of my art teacher.
On the regional level, I won a Gold Key for the 3rd year, the top prize, along with three silver keys, the second best prize. Here are my award winners

The Happiest Place on Earth

Now, my Gold Key Photo goes on to the national level for judging.

For the second year in a row, I think that my silver key photos are better than gold, but the art community thinks else wise.

Remember, the 12 Photos of 2012 Poll is still open, so if you have not yet voted, there is plenty of time. It is a heated race this year, and I am surprised that there are no standout winners. There are seven contenders out of the twelve that could pull ahead with just a few more votes.

Keep the votes coming!

Photo of the Week: October 21-27, The Sights of Fall…

The Fall season is upon us, and with tradition, comes a visit to Soon’s Orchard, home to the World’s Best Apple Cider donuts!

During our visit, I took a few artistic photos. Unfortunately, no photos of the Apples and Donuts though.

If you go out to enjoy the Fall or Foliage, take some photos! It is the most photographed time of year for a reason.

Enjoy!

With the weekend in front of me, I decided it would be a good time to update my original website, and even make some changes here! To start, I was wondering what day would be best for the Photo of the Week.
Please take a moment out of your Internet viewing time to vote in this poll!

Also, due to popular demand, I thought I would repost the

No matter how the poll results turn out, the Photo of the Week will come out on this upcoming Sunday Morning (10/14/2012)
Enjoy the Weekend!

Interesting things in Nature… Photos of the Week, September 30- October 6, 2012

Over the past week or so, when I wasn’t doing some sort of homework, I went outside to enjoy the beautiful Fall weather. It seemed as though rather than seeing just a normal spider or a normal caterpillar, it had to be an unusual creature.

Take a look at this!

What kind of spider is that? Look at the design on its back!

The Caterpillar of the Hickory Tussock Moth. According to what I have read, beware! Don’t touch one if you see it as the white and black hairs that stick out get into your skin, and can cause a severe allergic reaction.

While I’m on the topic of cool creatures, my Cousin Keegan is in the Gal├ípagos Islands studying the behavior of the island’s lava lizards, which are very cool creatures! He is enhancing his skills of the Spanish language, and learning about the local culture in the process. This is all thanks to the Global Gap Year Fellowship.
Check out his blog, Don Quixote de Los Carolinas.

Have a great week!
